Dr. Vanessa C. Mbanga is a board-certified pediatric neurologist and epileptologist who specializes in caring for children with epilepsy, seizures, headaches, migraines, developmental concerns, and other neurological conditions. She also provides comprehensive care for adults with epilepsy and seizure disorders.

At Family Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Center, Dr. Mbanga is dedicated to delivering compassionate, personalized care — ensuring that patients and their families feel supported and well-informed at every step of their journey. She believes in creating individualized treatment plans that align with each patient’s unique needs and goals.

Dr. Mbanga completed her specialized fellowship in epilepsy at Baylor College of Medicine, where she gained advanced skills in EEG interpretation, seizure management, and the treatment of complex epilepsy at renowned Texas Medical Center institutions — including Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, and Michael DeBakey VA Medical Center. She also served as Chief Resident in Child Neurology at Saint Louis University.

Aside from clinical care, Dr. Mbanga is an active researcher whose work focuses on pediatric epilepsy, refractory seizures, neurodevelopmental disorders, and advanced epilepsy diagnostics including magnetoencephalography (MEG). She has presented her findings at national conferences organized by the American Epilepsy Society (AES) and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS).

Her clinical and research interests encompass developmental concerns, pediatric and adult epilepsy, community-based epilepsy care, pediatric headaches and migraines, health disparities, advocacy, and global health. Fluent in both English and French, she values building strong relationships with patients and families across diverse communities. Outside of medicine, Dr. Mbanga enjoys time with her family, traveling, and exploring new cultures.
